Alissa Oliver

Alissa comes to S&O with a passion for people and places.  Around coursework for her BA in Linguistics at the University of Washington, she spent a total of three years in Europe, Central America, and Asia.  While abroad, she studied, worked, and volunteered with children and the elderly through the Ang Mo Kio Family Center and Lions Befrienders Program in Singapore and the Casa Guatemala Orphanage in Rio Dulce, Guatemala.  Alissa delights in using her international experience and the languages she has studied in her work at S&O, including: French, Spanish, Mandarin, German, and Hindi.

In 2004, Alissa was accepted into the Teach for America program and completed her MA in Education at Trinity University while teaching in a high-needs school in Washington, DC.  After five rewarding years in the classroom, she joined with her husband, Andy, to open the Seattle office of Shaklee & Oliver PS.  When not working, Alissa can be found buried in a book or surrounded by her enormous extended family.
